jog-a-thon

Jog-a-thon

Abigail and Jayda are now attending the Montessori School of Oceanside and they absolutly love it. Last week they participated in a Jog-a-thon as a fundraiser for the school. We had sponsors pledge a certain amount of money per lap that each girl ran. It was too much fun. The jog-a-thon started with the diaper dash (Jayda's room).Their laps were modified to an appropriate size for little toddlers. Here's a pic that gives you an idea of the size of her laps. The orange flags mark the track.
Here is Jade giving all she's got. Notice the tongue hanging out of her mouth.

After about 20 laps she was wearing out but kept on going...

After each lap, they got a lap marked on their necklace...

and a squirt of water too keep them cool and hydrated. (This was probably her favorite part. She would runright up to them, say Aaahhh, and then laugh every time)
The little munchkins getting hydrated before the big run!

Nourishing their little bodies after their success!

Jayda Rayne Kuehnl finishing with 25 laps!!!

Next were the pre-schoolers. Their track was a lot bigger. Here's a picture to get an idea. The orange flag where the lady is sitting is one side and it curves all the way around about 6 feet past the tents you see. I'm guessing it was at least 1/8 mile.
Abby was determined for weeks that she was going to do 5 laps. She had been practicing every night, running laps up and down our sidewalk. This is her with her friend Lexie telling me how many laps she'd be doing. (lexie, by the way, was going to do one hundred and one thousand laps)
Here she is with Lexie again.
And again. They were glued to the hip. It was cute to see her with a best buddy.

Abby took off with a mad dash and I thought to myself "oh no she's gonna tire herself out with one lap." But nope, she was a little energizer bunny. She kept going, and going, and going...When I'd ask if she wanted to walk a lap and rest a little she kept on running and said "nope, I want the medal." (the child in the school who ran the most laps got a medal). Here she is running. You'll see her come by and pass everyone.

Determination!!

Abigail Skye Kuehnl finished with 20 laps!!
she worked so hard, I was so proud of her! She did over 2.5 miles and only walked about 10% of it.
This is Abby's preschool class.

They got a pizza picnic after the race.

After pizza, Abby started asking all her friends if they wanted to have a dance party. She started dancing and her friends started joining in.
What a fun day!!
