date night

Last weekend, Cindi and I took turn's watching each other's kids so that we could have a date night with our husbands. Jason and I did dinner and a movie (not all that creative, but we've only been to one adult movie since Abby was born, so it was a big treat for us). It was a weird feeling not having the little ones around. Just getting in and out of the car without unloading two children is strange. We went to Chili's for dinner and they're doing a fundraiser for St. Jude's hospital, so they had these papers with a big chili pepper and you could buy the paper (the money goes to st. judes) and color it and they hang it on their walls. We were laughing because we finally got away from kids, but what did we do? We spent the whole time in the restaurant coloring. Then we went to the movies and I wanted a coffee from their little cafe, but it wasn't opened yet. We asked an employee when the coffee shop opened and she looked at us funny and said "uh, thats been closed for about 2 years".(how old is Abby??) So, we're watching the movie and I'm loungin' back and all of a sudden the movie got really loud...I jumped up to grab the remote before it woke up the girls upstairs....Did I mention its been a really really long time since we've been to a movie?

The next night it was our turn to watch the kids and Cindi and Calvin had an event that didn't get over until midnightish so it was almost like Abby's first sleepover. She was really excited about Kennedy and Gavin sleeping at her house.

Of course they played dress up most the night. Thats what these two girls do best.
We made some pizza, played candyland (sort of) and then before bed they got to watch the little mermaid. They didn't move from this position the whole movie.
Passed out!
Jayda is officially crawling now and of course she's everywhere. Abby isn't so happy about this new freedom she has. Now Jayda can is always getting Abby's books, toys, food, ect... She can't do anything without Jayda in the middle of it. Jayda loves her big sister and always wants to be doing what she's doing.

The other day Jayda woke up from her nap and when I went to get her in her crib, there she was standing up. So weird to see her like that. But since then she's been pulling up on everything. Here's pics of her and Abby playing in the crib.

Jason's promotion

Jason found out last week that he was selected for Staff Sergeant. We are very excited. He definatly deserves it. His goal was to pick up Staff before the end of his second enlistment and he did it. He just hit his 7 year mark in the Marine Corp this July.

It seems like a lot has been going on, which leaves me with lots to write about, but not a lot of time to write. Jayda turned six months aug. 22nd. Of course we had to celebrate her half a year with half a cake. To bad she didn't get to try any of it. Jason was deployed for Abby's 6 month and wasn't there for the party so I don't think he was prepared for such a hoopla, but he did say it was worth the singing and the pictures and the video and the party dress because I actually baked a cake, and I never bake.

Jayda is growing up so much. She is such a funny baby. I don't even know how to explain in words to tell you guys, she's just goofy. It's not even what she does, it's just the presence that she has. She's always smiling her goofy smile or has some other funny expression. She's so easy going. Even when Abby is rolling her across the floor, smiles and looks at me like "here we go again". The other day I walked back into the room to Abby pulling her across the floor by her legs while she slid on her belly. I was just about to holler at Abby when I realized Jayda was laughing and loving it. She loves, loves, loves her big sister. Nobody can make Jayda laugh like Abby can. She's always watching her in amazement. Abby is a crazy, wild girl sometimes and Jade loves the entertainment. She's not officially crawling yet, but she gets everywhere with her military crawl. She's getting pretty efficient with it and seems to have given up on crawling since she's getting where she needs to go.

Gigi, David and there 17 month boy, Steven, came out for Labor day weekend (from Vegas). We had a lot of fun all weekend with the zoo, the beach, and Super Mario 3 on the old school nintendo. Abby loved Steven. She was following him around the last day demanding "Kiss me! Kiss me!" The night that they left, I asked her if she had fun with Steven and she said "yeah, I gave him kisses." I told her "You gave him lots of kisses" and she replied "He's just so cute in his blue shirt." Jason's ready to lock her up until she's 30.

I know there's a lot more that I've been thinking about writing about, but I'm done for now. Here's some pictures of the little ones....

Out of all the animals at the zoo, both of them were most fascinated with the ducks.

Jayda started solids a couple weeks ago, I forgot just how messy they are in the begining.

She's trying to sneak a bite.

Wishing she could have a taste.
